Miss Korea 2010 - Jung So Ra in Seokyung Golf Magazine

Jung So-ra ( 정소라; born March 10, 1991), also known as Sora Jung in the Western media, is a Korean beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss Korea 2010 and will represent her country in the 2011 Miss Universe pageant.

Jung is the daughter of the chairman of the Korean Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai and intends to become a diplomat. She graduated from Shanghai American School in the class of 2009. She had previously planned to attend college in the United States, however is currently attending Korea University. She speaks three languages: Korean, Chinese, and English.

BIOGRAPHY:

Jung So-ra was crowned Miss Korea in the 54th Miss Korea Beauty Pageant at the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts in Seoul on Sunday.

Jung, the first runner-up of Miss Seoul, is the daughter of the chairman of the Korean Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai, Jung Han-young. Her measurements are 33-24-36 with a height of 171cm.

A student at the University of California Riverside, she is proficient in English, Chinese, and Japanese. Her father was once recruited as an MBC TV actor in an open audition when he was young, suggesting that good looks run in the blood.

"I never expected to be crowned Miss Korea as I am the youngest of the contestants," Jung said. "It is such an honor. I want to make the beautiful Korean culture known all over the world." She pledged to study hard to become a diplomat and added, "I have no intention of going into showbusiness."

When asked about her role model, Jung answered, "Angelina Jolie, because not only was she named as the most beautiful actress in the world, she also continues to put more effort into her volunteer work. Like her, I want to take part in activities that benefit the society and at the same time promote Korean culture."

So-ra will represent South Korea in the Miss World 2010 in China and Miss Universe 2011, which is said to be held in Nha Trang, Vietnam. A dream just came true tonight, just as Jeong Sora said, “It’s a dream come true”.

Jeong So-ra was crowned Miss Korea 2010 at the Finale of the 54th Miss Korea pageant on July 25th at the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts. Jeong So-ra will represent South Korea in the Miss World 2010 in China and Miss Universe 2011, which is said to be held in Nha Trang, Vietnam.

The two first runners-up are Jang Yoon Jin (25) and Kim Hye Young (21), respectively.
The four second runners-up are: Ahn Da Hye(21), Ha Hyun Jung (23), Lee Whee Joo(20), Go Hyun Young (21).

Miss Korea Kim Joo-ri has a chance to become the next face of the international community when she competes in the upcoming Miss Universe 2010 in August, fans and media are speculating alike.

The 22-year-old has seen her fair share of fame over the last year, since she was crowned Miss Seoul 2009. A graduate of the Russian Bolshoi Ballet School, the trilingual Kim recently placed seventh in the 2009 Miss World Competition. In fact, she is the first representative from South Korea to participate in two of the four global beauty pageants (composed of the Miss Universe, Miss World, Miss International and Miss Earth contests).

Kim, who has lived abroad in both England and Russia, hopes to become either a ballerina or a diplomat _ following her idol, Audrey Hepburn _ in the future. Either way, the optimism emanating from the young lady is clear in her every action.

``I hope people don't give up on their dreams,’’ Kim told The Korea Times in an interview last year. ``I never thought I would come this far, but I have. If you really want to become Miss Korea, go for it and the same goes to everything else!’’

The 59th Miss Universe pageant will take place Aug. 23 in Las Vegas.
